Has the same wholegrain mix as the standard Coarse Layer, but without the inclusion of any animal protein meals. Typical ingredients may include wheat, sorghum, barley, pearl millet, sunflower seed, mung beans and corn. These are mixed without any grinding, giving it the “wholegrain” appearance. The diverse mix of colours gives it a look similar to muesli, making it very appealing to the chicken and owner alike.

When raising young chicks, the CHF Organic Vegetarian Coarse Layer is best fed once they have reached the point of lay (approximately 18–20 weeks). Blending with the CHF Chicken Starter Grower from 16 weeks is advisable to assist with the transition to the new feed.
Typical feed consumption is 100g–130g per bird per day, and feed is best made accessible through a specially designed self-feeder. To minimize wastage, ensure your feeder is elevated — high enough so the birds cannot scratch feed onto the ground, yet low enough for them to eat comfortably. Always ensure birds have access to plenty of clean, potable drinking water.
