When raising young chicks, the Coarse Vegetarian Layer is best fed once they have reached the point of lay (18 to 20 weeks) although blending with the Chicken Starter Grower from 16 weeks is advisable to assist with the transition to the new feed and egg formation.

Country Heritage Feeds Coarse Vegetarian Layer is the same consistency mix as that of the standard Coarse Layer however without the use of any animal protein meals. Typical ingredients may include wheat, sorghum, barley, triticale, pearl millet, sunflower seed, mung beans, and corn, and are mixed without any milling process giving it the “whole grain” appearance.  The diverse mix of colors gives it a look similar to muesli making it very appealing to the eye of both the chicken and owner alike.
